Juturu et al. tested 10 mg lutein with 2 mg of a specific zeaxanthin-isomer blend for 12 weeks. Fifty men and women ages 18–45 enrolled; 46 completed. The study reported changes in overall skin tone and luminance.
The trial did not test SOOID or a 50+ population. SOOID lists 2.1 mg zeaxanthin; exact isomer equivalence has not been established here. The findings do not support a promise to prevent dark spots or replace sunscreen.
Ingredient form and study population matter. Findings from this trial should not be presented as proof of dark-spot prevention, wrinkle prevention or results specifically in women over 50.
Continue using sunscreen as directed.
